Basic Policy on Customer Harassment

1.Introduction

Tamagawa Seiki Co., Ltd. conducts its business activities in accordance with the principles of “Justice, Diligence, and Improvement,” under our mission of “Creating the World of Tomorrow through ‘Measuring’ and ‘Moving.’” We value relationships of trust with our customers and business partners and strive to utilize their opinions, feedback, and requests to develop better products and services.
However, some demands or conduct may exceed what is considered reasonable under generally accepted social standards. Such conduct may harm the dignity and well-being of our employees and undermine a safe and secure working environment.
We recognize that providing a workplace where every employee can work safely and securely is an important responsibility of the Company. While maintaining sound and trusting relationships with our customers and business partners, we have established this “Basic Policy on Customer Harassment” to protect the human rights of our employees.

2.Definition of Customer Harassment

Tamagawa Seiki Co., Ltd. defines customer harassment as follows:

Customer harassment refers to any demand or conduct by customers, business partners, or other stakeholders that:

  • is unreasonable or unjustified in light of generally accepted social standards; or
  • involves means or manner of conduct that is unreasonable or inappropriate in light of generally accepted social standards, even where the underlying demand itself is reasonable,
and thereby adversely affects the working environment of employees, including employees and dispatched workers of the Tamagawa Seiki Group and employees and dispatched workers of companies providing services to the Group.

The following are examples of conduct that may constitute customer harassment. This list is not exhaustive.

Psychological Attacks

  • Verbal abuse, insults, defamation, or remarks that deny or demean an employee’s dignity or character
  • Threats, intimidation, or coercive or high-handed behavior
  • Threatening to publicize information through social media, the internet, the media, or other channels in order to force an employee or the Company to comply with a demand
  • Other similar conduct

Physical Attacks

  • Assault or bodily injury
  • Throwing objects, striking objects or persons, or other threatening behavior
  • Other similar conduct

Restrictive or Persistent Conduct

  • Keeping an employee or other person confined or engaged in a discussion for an excessively long period of time
  • Refusing to leave or remaining on the premises after being asked to leave
  • Repeatedly making the same demand or complaint by telephone, email, in-person meetings, or other means
  • Other similar conduct

Discriminatory or Sexual Conduct

  • Discriminatory remarks or conduct based on gender, age, nationality, region, or other personal characteristics
  • Sexual harassment
  • Unwanted or unnecessary physical contact
  • Forcing or pressuring an employee to engage in a personal or romantic relationship
  • Other similar conduct

Unreasonable or Excessive Demands

  • Demanding that an employee kneel or make an excessive apology
  • Demanding monetary compensation, discounts, or special treatment without reasonable grounds
  • Making demands beyond the terms of a contract, agreement, or applicable terms and conditions
  • Making demands that are exceptionally difficult or unreasonable to fulfill
  • Repeatedly demanding to be dealt with by a particular executive, manager, or other specific person
  • Other similar conduct

Harassment Targeting Individual Employees

  • Lying in wait for, following, or stalking an employee
  • Taking photographs or videos of an employee without authorization
  • Attempting to obtain or demanding disclosure of an employee’s personal information
  • Seeking personal contact with an employee outside the scope of business activities
  • Persistently contacting an employee outside working hours
  • Other similar conduct

3.Our Response to Customer Harassment

If we determine that conduct constitutes customer harassment, we will prioritize the safety and security of our employees and respond firmly and decisively as an organization.
Where necessary, we may discontinue or suspend interactions, suspend or decline business transactions, or discontinue or refuse to provide services.
In cases that are deemed malicious or constitute criminal conduct, we will cooperate with the police, attorneys, and other external professional organizations as appropriate and take strict measures, including legal action.
